how to make the robotic hand part 3

Now go onto edit poly and select the vertex tool and delete the first vertices.
Using the select polygon tool , select half of the sphere and detach it, select detach to element.
Select the element tool and pull them apart.
Place them at the end.
Now adjust the model as so;
On edit poly select the end edges and create two segments.
Adjust the segments.

Then delete them, so it looks like this;
Then copy the red caps so they go on the top parts as well.
Then attach the middle part together.
Select the top rectangle and put it into an editable poly and then shift+click to clone the object, make sure you copy to instance. Then rotate the new one and place it on the grid as so;
By doing this, whatever we do to one rectangle, the same thing will happen to the other one. This helps because we don’t have to work at an angle, to escape this mode press 6.

 Copy the bottom part twice and place them into the rectangle as shown (note do not select instance)
Adjust as so;
Using the element tool, delete the rectangle.
Create a cylinder and attach the two blocks to it.
Select the move tool and the polygon tool. Select the face (also known as surface). A face is the flat part which fills in the line. Different shapes have a different amount of faces for example a cube has 6 while a cylinder has 2. When you have selected it, shift+click and pull it out, select clone to element.
Faces are handy because you can get a 2D shape without more trouble, also it saves time measuring.

Select the border tool and cap up the holes and then bring it out like so;
